And the award goes to......

Who cares...that's who. Apparently the Emmy awards were Sunday...big whoop. I don't think I've watched an awards show of any kind since Star Wars got snubbed in 1977 and Michael Jackson won every single Grammy in 1983. These shows are nothing but Hollywood/Music industry Politics and popularity contests. Honestly some of the stuff that wins best Picture at the Oscars makes you scratch your head. Nothing I ever liked has ever won and none of the people I want to see perform have never been asked to. I can see why certain Celebs never show up, even if they win.....it's just more elitist crap. If you want my respect and my hard earned cash start making original things and stop rehashing stuff.

Totally agree with Awards show in general. But here's my 2 cents re. the Oscars.

2006: Winner, "The Departed". Great flick, "Babel" should have won and wouldn't have minded if "Letters from Iwo Jima" won. I would have added "Water" from India. It was that good. And they snubbed "Apocolypto", rediculously good movie.

2005: Winner, "Crash"...okay movie. "Brokeback" had more impact. In fact, in 50 years, they'll have forgotten "Crash" and will remember "Brokeback"."Munich" should have won that year. Good flick. Powerful and had an important political message.

2004: Winner, "Million Dollar Baby", are you kidding me? Yes, I love Clint but this was the best of the year nor Clint's best by far. Nothing else nominated that year was worth watching twice.

2003: Winner, "Lord of the Rings", FINALLY.

2002: Winner, "Chicago", WTF!! Polanski's "The Pianist" completely blew it away. I still think about that flick.

2001: Winner: "A Beautiful Mind", okay film but better than "Fellowship"? not even close.

2000: Winner: "Gladiator". Good flick. This was a good year. Tons of movies could have been nominated. "Traffic" and "Crouching Tiger" were both excellent.

1999: Winner: "American Beauty". Okay film. "Sixth Sense" blew everything away that year. It's the only film you'll remember from this year 20 years from now.

1998: Winner, "Shakespeare in Love", are they out of there fricken minds! More important than "Thin Red Line"?!, or "Saving Private Ryan"?!, or "Life is Beautiful"?!

1997: Winner, "Titanic". Okay, that makes sense. Destroyed every box office record known. Even my Mother went out to see that one. It's the only movie she's paid to watch in 20 years.

1996: Winner, "English Patient", which has got to be the most boring film ever made. "Fargo" should have won that year.

1995: Winner, "Braveheart". Great Movie. But to tell you the truth, Ang Lee's "Sense and Sensibility" was better, IMHO.

1994: Winner, "Forrest Gump", I guess that makes sense. Uplifting movie that still gains good ratings from broadcast TV reruns. People just love to watch this film. But for me, the best film that year was "Pulp Fiction". What a phenomenon. Film makers are still copying him 12 years later.

1993: Winner, "Shindler's List". Hands down, one of the greatest most powerful, though provoking films ever. Important, engaging, riviting, and disgusting. Nothing comes close.

1992: Winner, "Unforgiven". They totally got it right with this one. I can watch the last 15 minutes of this movie everyday for a month and I'd still get chills.

1991: Winner, "Silence of the Lambs", hell yeah!

1990: Winner, "Goodfellas", IMO, one of the best movies ever made.

Well Steve, I gotta get back to work. But you got me juices flowing.

You see what I mean P....alot of the things that win make you scratch your head. Some I understand.....Return of the King was the best of the Three and the better movie that year....Crash? I agree with Munich...that was a great movie.
